Replacement of the Russian passport is necessary in the event of a change of surname, first name or patronymic, appearance or gender, as well as upon reaching a certain age specified by law (20 and 45 years). Sometimes a passport replacement is required if there are mistakes in the spelling of the initials or dates.

Necessary

  • - receipt of payment of state duty;
  • - application for the issuance of a passport;
  • - photos;
  • - old passport.

Instructions

Step 1

Schedule a visit to the district office of the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation on any date within one month after the occurrence of an event that causes a passport change (birthday, change of surname, etc.). This provision is indicated in the corresponding article of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. A passport issued exactly on the birthday or on the day of the change of surname is considered invalid. If you contact the FMS after thirty days from the date of the date, then you will have to pay a fine. The exception is situations when a person has valid reasons (for example, military service at the time of the onset of the 20th anniversary).

Step 2

If you change your passport due to the fact that your name, surname or patronymic was written incorrectly or indicated the wrong number in the date of birth, as well as if there are other errors in the passport, then you must draw up the document within one day and without paying the state duty.

Step 3

Submit the necessary documents to the FMS department: - a receipt for payment of the state duty in the amount established by law (payment is made to the savings bank); - an application for a new passport; - 5 photographs, the design of which exactly meets the requirements (without a headdress and glasses, cards of the appropriate size and colors); - old passport; - original document, which is the basis for replacing the passport: certificate of divorce, marriage, birth (if the document is lost or cannot be presented, then contact the local registry office and get a second certificate). which are the basis for entering personal data in the passport. These can be birth certificates of children (if they are not yet 14 years old), military ID, documents confirming registration at the place of residence, etc.

Step 4

Show up for the delivery of documents and obtain a passport in person - your signature and personal presence will be required, and attracting trusted persons is impossible.

Step 5

If you have a foreign passport, then you can replace it only after you receive a new Russian passport. The list of documents for replacing a foreign passport is similar.
