If a decision is made to reduce the number of employees, the head of the organization must issue an appropriate order. It should determine the date of the layoff - in the procedure, it is the starting point on which many accompanying points will depend, for example, the period during which employees should be notified of the dismissal.

How are layoffs made

The main stages of the reduction procedure are as follows:

- a reduction order is issued;

- employees are notified of the layoff, they are offered an offer for another job;

- notification of the trade union, as well as of the employment service is carried out;

- the dismissal of workers is carried out.

When the order is ready and issued, the employees subject to redundancy must be notified 2 months before the date indicated in the order. At the end of the layoff procedure, orders should be issued to lay off workers. In the column "grounds" you must refer to the order on the implementation of measures to reduce, to the notification of this. Also, if available, the details of the documents must be indicated where the employee agreed to terminate the employment contract before the warning period expires.

What should be the entry in the employee's work book upon dismissal due to redundancy

In the employee's work book, an entry about dismissal is made in a certain order. First, the ordinal number of the entry should be put down in column number 1, the date of dismissal should be indicated in the second column. In the third column, the reason for the dismissal is recorded, in the fourth, the name of the document on the basis of which this entry was made, that is, the employer's order or another form of decision, the date and number of the document are indicated.

It should be borne in mind that the last working day should be considered the date of dismissal, unless the employment contract, federal law or agreement between the employee and the employer establishes otherwise.

When making an entry in a work book, it must be borne in mind that it must exactly correspond to the wording of the labor code, which is spelled out in the order. Therefore, before making an entry, you need to know exactly what the dismissal is for. Sometimes downsizing and downsizing are mistaken for the same thing.

The entry in the work book should look something like this: "Fired due to the reduction of the staff of the organization, clause 2 of part 1 of article 81 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation."
