The Candidate Minimum is a list of examinations taken by postgraduate students or applicants for the degree of Candidate of Science. It is an important part of the certification of scientific and pedagogical personnel.
Target
The purpose of the minimum candidate (candidate examinations) is to determine the depth of professional knowledge of the applicant for a scientific degree, as well as to find out the level of his readiness for independent research work. To award the academic degree of candidate of sciences, passing the candidate exams (in philosophy, foreign language and specialized discipline) is required.
Delivery procedure
Candidate exams in philosophy and foreign language are taken according to exemplary educational programs developed and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. The candidate exam in a special discipline is taken according to a program consisting of two parts: a standard program - at least in a specialty, developed by the leading higher educational institutions and scientific institutions in the relevant industry; an additional program of the program is developed by the corresponding department of a particular university.
According to the established practice, candidate exams are taken twice a year in the form of sessions, the terms and duration of which are established directly by the higher educational institution that accepts the candidate exams. At the discretion of the commission, candidate exams are passed with or without tickets, and the knowledge of future scientists and teachers is assessed according to the school system: "excellent", "good", "satisfactory", "unsatisfactory". At the same time, one attempt is given to pass the exam: you cannot take the candidate exam again during one session.

Successful passing of candidate exams is an important step in a specialist's career. For the examinee, she opens the possibility of obtaining a certificate, which gives the right to defend a candidate's dissertation. At the same time, the deadlines for submitting the candidate minimum and the validity of the certificate are unlimited.
In accordance with the Regulation on the training of scientific, pedagogical and scientific personnel in the system of postgraduate professional education in the Russian Federation, passing the candidate exams is mandatory for the award of the scientific degree of candidate of science, as well as for applicants for the scientific degree of doctor of science who do not have the scientific degree of candidate of science.
Also, students who have passed all or part of the candidate exams, upon admission to graduate school, are exempted from the relevant exams. The decision on admission to graduate school or refusal of admission is communicated to the applicant within a week.
