Necessary

  • - passport (except in cases of its theft or loss);
  • - statement about the loss / theft of the passport;
  • - application form No. P1 for the issuance of a new passport;
  • - coupon-notification from the internal affairs bodies about the registration of the incident (in case of loss / theft);
  • - 4 photos 3, 5x4, 5 cm;
  • - a receipt for payment of the state duty;
  • - additional documents (birth certificate, military ID, and others).

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, in case of loss / theft of your passport, you need to contact the regional department of internal affairs of the Russian Federation. There you need to write a statement containing all the details of the incident: where, how, when and under what circumstances you lost or stolen your passport. The police officer is obliged to give you a notification coupon registering your message and a certificate that will temporarily serve as an identity document.

Step 2

After receiving a notification coupon from the police, stating the fact of theft or loss of your passport, in the future you can easily challenge any actions of fraudsters in whose hands your passport may end up.

Step 3

After the police, go to the territorial office of the FMS at the place of registration (place of stay or at the place of appeal). There it is necessary to write an application in form No. 1P for the issuance of a new passport. Also, you will need to attach a police certificate, a receipt for payment of the state fee and 4 personal photographs of the required format to the application.

Step 4

The term for issuing a new passport will be 10 days, provided that you issue it at the place of residence, and also if you received the lost (stolen) passport in the same department of the Federal Migration Service. In other cases, the issuance of a new passport may take 2 months.

Step 5

Sometimes there are complications in establishing the identity of a citizen, for example, in case of loss of a file containing information about previously issued passports to you. In such situations, additional documents will be required: birth certificate, military ID, work book and others.

Step 6

If your passport has become unusable (damaged, worn out, etc.), then you must immediately contact the passport and visa service. You will need 2 personal photographs of the established sample and a receipt for payment of the state fee. The term for issuing a new document will depend on where you received your old passport and will take from 10 days to 2 months.
