Now at many enterprises the criteria for assessing the production and economic activities of managers are the quality criteria formulated in the international standard ISO 9000. The main principle of the manager's activities is the rule: "write down how to act and organize activities as prescribed." Of those 20 quality criteria that are regulated by the ISO 9000 standard, 7 are related to the concept of "management". This demonstrates the importance that is attached to the work of each employee who carries out management functions.

A manager of any level must be able to set tasks, plan his actions for their implementation, organize production, distribute products and wages. He has to deal not only with inanimate objects - raw materials, materials, production areas, tools and vehicles necessary for the production and delivery of products, but also with living people - his subordinates.

A good leader must ensure a continuous production process in the area entrusted to him. An indicator of the quality of its activities can be the absence of downtime, the provision of employees with everything necessary for normal work, the timely delivery of raw materials and the shipment of finished products. He must always have a clear understanding of the production situation and be able to make the right decisions in the face of time pressure and rapidly changing situations.

The professional activity of a leader involves his constant interaction with other people - his subordinates and management. He must clearly and clearly communicate to his employees management decisions that come from a higher-level manager. At the same time, his function includes setting the task in such a way that the subordinates clearly know and understand what is required of them and in what time frame the task must be solved. He must also be able to induce to perform the assigned tasks, using any of the methods available in his arsenal - authoritarian or democratic.
