Recently, political relations between Russia and Ukraine have only deteriorated, and Ukraine has introduced a number of amendments to the legislation concerning the restriction of access of certain citizens of the Russian Federation to its territory.
Ukraine is an independent state that has the right to independently establish restrictions on entry into its own territory. In connection with the deterioration of political relations with Russia, the Ukrainian authorities have established from April 17, 2014 restrictions on the crossing of the state border by Russian citizens.
This restriction is explained by the strengthening of border controls for the entry of persons into the eastern regions of Ukraine in order to create provocations and finance separatists.
Who has limited access to Ukraine
This applies to passengers with Russian citizenship between the ages of 16 and 60 who arrived in Ukraine alone for the purpose of a tourist visit by any transport (land or air). Also, Russian men of combat-ready age are not allowed to enter the territory of Ukraine.
It is also prohibited to cross the border by Ukrainian citizens registered in Crimea. Even Crimean women aged 20 to 35 will be required to undergo a series of filtration and verification activities.
The restriction also applies to business representatives who will cross the border of Ukraine on a general basis.
Who is not limited access to Ukraine
Russians who have arrived with their families and have children can freely cross the Ukrainian border. It is also allowed for citizens of the Russian Federation to enter if they have documents, for example, related to the death or serious illness of relatives.
The Aeroflot company notified its customers about the innovations and recommended in the near future to abandon flights to Ukraine, it provides an opportunity for passengers planning a flight to Ukraine to return tickets without any penalties.
