Bus driver - this profession is gradually losing popularity, but not because it is very difficult or has some negative features. The reason is the realities of our time and the rather low pay for this hard and responsible work.
Unfortunately, today's youth do not strive to master the profession of a public transport driver. Young people are far from romanticism, and if they dream of driving, then only a personal car of a prestigious brand. Bus drivers are those who simply cannot imagine themselves without vehicles, drive excellently, but have found no other use for their talent and desires.
Bus driver - who is he
But a bus driver is, first of all, a representative of a trucking company, its face and its main component. It is the driver who is responsible for the success of the company, its reputation. In addition, he is responsible for the safety of passengers, the quality of service, the technical condition of the bus and the timely delivery of the client.
When hiring, drivers are challenged not only in terms of their driving skills. A candidate for this vacancy must be a neat, sociable, punctual and obligatory person, be able to instantly respond to critical situations, provide first aid if necessary. In addition, he must know the structure of the vehicle, so that in the event of a bus breakdown far from the settlement, eliminate the malfunction and continue driving.
Features of the profession in our country
In Russia, the popularity of the profession of a bus driver has declined in recent decades. To return to its popularization, the state has taken measures to increase the payment for this hard work, but the requirements for candidates have become much tougher. In addition to professional skills, requirements are also imposed on their state of health, age and driving experience.
Despite the increase in wages, many drivers do not stay in the profession for a long time, since upon admission they simply did not understand the full complexity of this occupation. The bus driver gets up early in the morning, because before going on the line, he is obliged to check the serviceability of the transport, undergo a medical examination for alcohol consumption, fixing blood pressure indicators and assessing the general state of health. The slightest deviation in the indicators is the reason for the ban on leaving the route, and signs of alcohol in the blood are also punishable by fines and may threaten with dismissal.
It is difficult for untrained drivers to endure the difficult situation on the roads, and many, considering the comparison of responsibility, fatigue and the amount of payment disproportionate, refuse to take the bus driver's seat. Often the reason for the departure of public transport workers is the wear and tear of the equipment on which they are forced to work.
Nevertheless, for all the complexity and negative realities of the profession, the government managed to reduce the percentage of staff turnover in trucking companies from 25 to 14% and increase the number of applicants to specialized colleges in this area.
