Assess your knowledge of the foreign language you are going to work with. Even if you are good at it at the everyday level, working as a translator may require much more serious knowledge. Work on your diction and manner of speaking. Try recording a short text on a voice recorder, and then listen to the recording. So you can identify problems with pronunciation, work on the volume of the voice, eliminate parasitic words and unnecessary pauses.
