There are two types of work visas in the United States - H1B and H2B. They differ in that a person with an H2B visa is not entitled to apply for a Green Card in the future. The process for obtaining them is similar. The visa is issued based on the results of an interview held at the US Embassy.
Step 2
The main requirements for an applicant for a work visa to the United States are: 1. knowledge of English; 2. the presence of an American employer. If you intend to obtain a work visa of the H1B category, then you must also have a higher education (at least a bachelor's degree), as well as a little work experience in your specialty. Otherwise, you have the right to rely only on an H2B visa.
Step 3
An American employer wishing to invite foreign workers will need to go through a rather complicated process of preparing documents for their future employees. If an American employer invites you, he must:
1.submit Form ETA 9035 (Labor Condition Application) for approval. It contains information about the working conditions of the given employer.
2. The employer submits the approved form above and the completed Form I-129 (petition) to a special government agency - US Citizen and Immigration Services. This body directly issues work permits to foreign workers. As long as there is no permit, the foreign worker is not eligible to start working in the United States.

Step 4
A candidate for a work visa submits to the embassy a package of documents from an American employer, a copy of a diploma and work book (the originals must be taken with you for an interview), confirmation of work experience in the relevant field, a passport, a 5cm X 5cm photo on a white background, documents that usually applied for a visa to the United States - a certificate from the place of work indicating income, documents on property (car, apartment, summer residence), on obtaining additional income, on marriage.
Step 5
The maximum period for which a US work visa can be issued is 6 years. Those who have received an H1B visa can apply for a Green Card (permanent residence).
