If you are a student and cannot find a permanent job in the United States yet, take part in the Work and Travel program. It allows you to study a language in the United States and work for a year. Since 2014, special short-term visas have also appeared for such programs. However, keep in mind that according to the terms of the program, you will need to return to Russia in a year.
Step 3
Take part in the drawing of the Green Card - a permanent residence permit in the United States. To do this, you must have at least secondary education, work experience of at least 2 years in the last 5 years is also desirable. Registration to participate in the lottery is carried out only on the official website of the US government - participation of intermediaries in the lottery is not allowed. Please note, since a lottery is implied, you are not guaranteed to receive the card. In addition, the probability of winning also depends on the country of residence - the more applications from it are submitted, the less chance of getting a card.

After choosing the appropriate visa program for you, apply to the US Embassy. The specific list of papers depends on your visa. For example, for a spousal visa, you need to prove the reality of the marriage relationship, as well as the fact that the American partner has enough funds to support the family. The student will be required to present documents for enrollment at the university, as well as sufficient funds in the bank account. The recipient of a work visa will need a signed contract or a formalized application from the employer with the desire to hire a specific person.
