The position for which the applicant applies largely influences successful employment. For example, the CEO and the secretary must act differently when looking for an employer.
We will divide the labor market into 4 segments and consider the features of each of them.
1 Bulk positions
Most of the population belongs to this category. This position includes:
- workers;
- movers;
- security guards;
- drivers;
- insurance agents;
- store managers, cashiers and consultants.
It is quite easy for representatives of these professions to find a job, because the competition is low.
To distinguish yourself favorably from other applicants for mass positions, you need to correctly and fully fill out a resume. In this case, it is advisable to focus on the fact that you ideally match the selected vacancy.
2 Narrow professionals
These are specialists with unique skills. "Narrow" professionals are:
- research analysts;
- design engineers, surveyors, designers;
- information technology specialists;
- doctors of narrow specialties;
- international lawyers.
This area is not very competitive, but there are usually few suitable vacancies.
When reading a resume, an employer will look for specific skills, such as a design engineer with experience with a particular piece of equipment. Therefore, the resume should indicate in as much detail as possible the tasks you perform, the tools used, and, importantly, the achievements. Examples of successful projects and portfolios will be a good addition.
It is advisable to indicate a related profession as well. For example, a crane driver might head his resume “crane operator-slinger”.
Labor market research helps to speed up the job search. For example, you can view the sites of potential employers, follow their pages on social networks.
3 Professionals recognizable by sight
This is a category of specialists for whom not only professional skills are important, but also appearance. These professions include:
- fitness instructor;
- Secretary;
- governess;
- actors;
- TV presenters.
When inviting an employee of these professions, the employer will not be limited to a resume, but will invite you for an interview to make sure the candidate is able to communicate, in his charm, and in accordance with the corporate culture.
It is advisable for the applicant to attach a photo to the resume.
When preparing for an interview, you need to think over the details of your appearance, it is very important to choose clothes that are appropriate for the situation.
There is a high probability that the employer will study your pages on social networks, so make them your allies. They should be informative, without high activity in the games and without offensive statements about the former employer.
4 Most difficult to close category
This segment includes:
- scientific workers;
- top managers;
- media staff.
There is high competition in this area. The employer will not only study the candidate's resume, but also request recommendations, get acquainted with his professional achievements in various sources (for example, in the media).
For successful employment, you will have to involve all job search channels. It is advisable to use professional contacts, visit specialized groups in social networks, and resort to the help of specialized agencies.
In addition, the senior executive will most likely have to present his vision for the future of the company and propose a plan for attracting new customers.
In any case, specialists applying for high positions should be prepared for a long job search.
