According to Russian law, every foreign citizen can work in Russia only with a work permit. It is issued for a certain period, therefore, sooner or later the question arises of the need to extend it. To do this, you need to have grounds for its extension (employment contract). Those who have such a basis must submit documents for the extension of a work permit to the authorized bodies.

Instructions

Step 1

If you have arrived in Russia for the purpose of doing business or other labor activities, and are planning to obtain Russian citizenship in the future, you need to have a work permit. It is issued for the first time for a period not exceeding 90 days. When applying for a job, make sure that the employer intends to conclude an employment contract with you, i.e. you will be working legally. Otherwise, you will not have grounds for extending the work permit. Those who work illegally may face problems with law enforcement agencies, in addition, it is difficult to get a decent job without a properly issued permit.

Step 2

Before your initial permit expires, make sure your employment contract continues. Therefore, you have a reason to renew the permit. Submit the following documents to the authorized bodies (territorial bodies of the Federal Migration Service - FMS):

1. Migration card with a stamp that you crossed the border of the Russian Federation.

2. Temporary registration.

3. Work permit (primary).

4. Notarized translation of your passport into Russian.

5. 1 photograph of 3 x 4 cm (matte).

5. Conclusion about your health condition.

You will also need to pay a state fee. Its size can be found in the territorial offices of the Federal Migration Service.

Step 3

The term for extending a work permit is 10 working days. After this period, you must appear for documents confirming the extension of the work permit (this is usually just a new work permit) or for a refusal. Extend the work permit for a year. After a year, you need to apply for its renewal again - in the same manner. Every time you just get a new work permit.

Step 4

Many foreign citizens arriving in Russia use the services of firms that draw up documents for obtaining and renewing work permits. There are many scammers among these firms, so if you decide to use the services of such firms, remember the following:

1. A work permit (initial or after renewal) is submitted only by you personally and is issued only to you personally.

2. Some firms offer to obtain or renew a work permit within 1-3 days. This may turn out to be a deception, since this period cannot be less than 10 working days.

3. Excessively low prices should not inspire confidence in you: you may be faced with low-quality work of the company.
