You can become a citizen of Russia not only by birth. According to federal law, foreigners, subject to a number of specific conditions, can apply for recognition as Russian citizens. Depending on the justification, you can try to obtain Russian citizenship under a general or simplified scheme.
It is necessary
- - passport
- - birth certificate
- - certificate from the place of work
- - diploma of education (if any)
- - notarial services
- - receipt of payment of state duty
- - other documents according to your individual case
To obtain Russian citizenship, you will need a residence permit. This document is issued only when the foreign citizen has had a temporary residence permit for at least a year. You can get a permit at the local department of the migration service by writing an application in Russian and providing identity documents.
In some cases, a person can obtain citizenship under a simplified scheme, that is, within six months. This applies to those who have a child, spouse or parent - a citizen of the Russian Federation living in Russia. However, each application will be considered individually, with the requirement of additional conditions, for example, residence in the country for at least three years.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, military personnel and graduates of educational institutions (after 2002), who are citizens of the former Soviet republics, can also count on a simplified procedure.
Together with copies of all necessary documents (passport, residence permit, birth certificate, etc.), an application on an official form must be submitted to the department of the Federal Migration Service of Russia. It contains information about the place of birth, nationality and religion, education, marital status, places of work over the past five years.
