For photographing models, you need a medium format or large format camera (as an option - a professional digital camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels), a line of high-quality high-aperture optics, lamp or flash lighting, background. It is highly desirable that during the photo session a stylist is present in the room, who has the opportunity, if necessary, to correct the make-up or clothes of the models.

Necessary

  • - shooting equipment;
  • - Lightning equipment;
  • - background.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a camera and interchangeable lenses. In classical photography, it is customary to photograph people with a 60-80 mm lens called a "portrait lens". It is desirable that it be of the same company as the camera, and its aperture ratio is 2, 8-2. The larger the relative aperture of the optics, the better the elaboration it gives. Another important aspect is the use of effects. If your creative idea provides for some special effects achieved with the help of certain light filters, make sure in advance that they are available, and their thread matches the chosen optics.

Step 2

Arrange flash or lamp lighting. Provide electrical power, extension cords, adapters, diffusers, and whatever else you might need. Ideally, you should have at least four light sources. Background - needed to highlight the background, smooth shadows or create a specific pattern in the background. The upper one is modeling. The two side lights are the main ones, in fact, they do the drawing. Sometimes, a backlight is additionally used, which is installed from above behind the model and directed to it from behind. But in recent years, it has been used quite rarely.

Step 3

Provide for a background. As a rule, so-called "background rolls" are used for photographing models - drums that feed fabric or special plastic to the entire shooting area. Their use helps to avoid an unattractive line between the wall and the floor in the picture. What colors to choose for the background is up to you. Traditionally, white, black and gray are the most popular. Of course, the model should be taken into account - i.e. subject, lighting and purpose of the whole process.

Step 4

Think over the angle, composition, plot. By the way, this is another reason why a stylist is desirable when photographing models on the set. In a difficult moment, he can come to the rescue, add the necessary decor, or vice versa, remove an extra detail.
