Maternity leave, i.e. maternity leave in Ukraine is provided not only to those who have a permanent job, but also to students, entrepreneurs and even the unemployed. It is drawn up on a sick leave, starting from the thirtieth week of pregnancy.
Instructions
Step 1
The duration of the leave is fixed: 126 days, of which 70 are in the period before childbirth and 56 after childbirth. True, if you had fewer vacation days before delivery, the total length of vacation does not change, and the prescribed days are added to the days of vacation after childbirth. If you had two or more children, or there were some complications during childbirth (which you can document), then the vacation is increased to 140 days, and for privileged categories of citizens (in particular, Chernobyl victims) - up to 180.
Step 2
In order to go on vacation before childbirth, you need to register with an antenatal clinic or clinic, otherwise you will be issued a sick leave only from the moment of birth.
Step 3
If you work officially, under an employment contract, you will be paid leave at the rate of 100% of your average income (salary) for the last six months. That is, the employer will calculate your average daily (or hourly) wages and multiply by the number of days (hours) of vacation.
Step 4
To receive vacation benefits, you need to come to the HR department and bring the corresponding statement and sick leave, which you must be given in the thirtieth week, from which your maternity leave began.
Step 5
Maternity payments must be paid to you in full (no matter how many days you got before the birth) on the next day the wages are paid. The company will then receive this amount back from the state social fund.
Step 6
If you are studying, maternity allowances will be given to you in the amount of a monthly stipend. Unemployed people registered at an employment center receive maternity benefits in the amount of unemployment benefits. At the same time, having received the sick leave money, you will be removed from the register at the employment center.
Step 7
Remember that by law you cannot be fired because of pregnancy, which applies to all maternity leave. The only possible case is the liquidation of the enterprise, but even in this case, you can only be fired with compulsory employment. Also, you cannot be demoted in position and salary.
