Many people face the need to change their place of registration. This may be due to both a change of residence and departure on a long business trip, or with service in the ranks of the armed forces. What to do, where to go to change your registration?

Step 1
Please note that according to the law on registration and removal of Russian citizens from registration within the country, registration, or registration of citizens, there are two types - permanent, at the place of residence and temporary at the place of stay.
Step 2
Consider the first situation in which you need to change your permanent residence due to a change of residence. Contact the passport office, housing office within seven days after moving to a new address. In the absence of the listed organizations at the place of arrival, go to the representative in charge of legal control of the operation of the residential premises.
Step 3
Prepare a package of necessary documents - a passport or other document confirming information about your identity; papers on the basis of which you will move into an apartment or house. Provide a departure sheet if you deregistered on your own from the previous place of registration.
Step 4
Fill out an application to register you at your place of residence. Take copies of the above documents and the application to the appropriate organization. Today it is possible to send all these documents in electronic form through a special site of the Single Portal.
Step 5
Please note that according to the law, your registration at the passport office must be carried out within three days from the date of application. Upon receipt of ready-made documents, check for the presence of a stamp on the change of residence. If for registration you presented another document, or you are less than 14 years old, then you will be given a "Certificate of registration at the place of residence"
Step 6
Now let's look at the second situation. You need to issue a temporary residence permit due to a change of place of stay. For example, you enrolled in an educational institution in another city and will live in a student residence. Or, you have come to undergo long-term treatment in a sanatorium, boarding house, or to serve in the army and will live in this place for a period of 90 days to 5 years.
Step 7
Ask the administration if they have a responsible person whose duties include registration at the place of stay of all new arrivals. As a rule, there are such employees in the field.
Step 8
Now you just need to submit the following papers to them - a passport or other document confirming information about your identity; social employment contract; a statement from the lodging officer; application for registration at the place of stay. The documents on the basis of which you will move in are a legal basis for temporary residence in a specific place.
