It is very important to make a good impression in your interview with a potential employer, and in particular to remain calm. If you're worried and nervous, you will come across as an insecure person. Fortunately, it's not that hard to relieve the excitement of an interview.
Instructions
Step 1
Before heading to the interview, prepare answers to common questions asked by the recruiter. And you will feel more prepared, thereby reducing your nervousness. You can read a list of frequently asked interview questions on the Internet. Also, ask your friends or family members to skip the job interview - one as an employer and the other as a candidate for the position.
Step 2
To combat nervousness, it is better to stop using antidepressants or various stress pills. Although these medications are used for medical purposes, their side effects, some of which come on quickly, can lead to confusion, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating on the interview. It is also undesirable to consume coffee and other drinks containing caffeine before an important meeting. Too much caffeine can lead to nervousness, which can further worsen the situation. Drink some herbal tea instead. Herbal tea soothes well, helps you concentrate and relax your muscles. It is best to choose tea with lemon, orange or soft green tea.
Step 3
Take a few deep breaths to increase the flow of oxygen into the body and regulate breathing. Inhale for a count of four, then exhale. Repeat several times until you feel more relaxed and confident.
Step 4
Take some time to relax you in activities such as reading or playing video games or listening to music. It can help you distract yourself and relieve your anxiety before the upcoming interview, as well as cheer you up. Or meditate. Even if you are a meditator, simply repeat the soothing word or phrase over and over to relax and release tension.
Step 5
You can chew mint-flavored gum. Thanks to the natural soothing effect of mint, you can relieve your anxiety in minutes (just remember to spit it out right before your interview). Mint candies work well too. But it's better to opt for sweets that don't contain sugar, which, incidentally, only adds to the anxiety.
