A foreign passport is the main document proving the identity of a citizen in another country. Today in Russia they issue an old or new passport (biometric). The latter was introduced on January 1, 2006 and differs from the old one not only in appearance, but also in the presence of a built-in microchip with data.
Instructions
Step 1
On the cover of the biometric passport you can see the inscriptions "Passport" and "Russian Federation" printed in Russian and English. And also the coat of arms of the Russian Federation and a special protective badge in the form of a rectangle with a circle inside.
Step 2
The first page of the new passport is plastic. It contains a photograph of the owner, which is not glued, but applied using a special laser technology. That is why the passport holder is photographed at the FMS department when collecting documents. The digital photo does not contain the blue ornaments and round holograms typical of the old model.
Step 3
On the same page, a microchip with information about the owner is integrated. It contains his last name, first name and patronymic, place and date of birth, gender, passport number and validity period, and the name of the authority that issued this document. The same data is printed on the page. Any additional information about the owner can also be entered into the microchip - the standards even provide for the possibility of storing special biometric information in the chip, for example, fingerprints or a pattern of the iris of the eye. But so far there is no such data there.
Step 4
At the top of the plastic page there is an inscription “Russian Federation” in two languages, and on the right is a protective hologram emblem in the shape of a rhombus, on which a photo of the owner can be seen at a certain angle to the light. Below the inscription is the serial number of the document. And at the bottom of the top page, the international designation RUS is printed, which makes it clear that this document belongs to a citizen of the Russian Federation. In addition, his serial number is stamped on all pages of the passport.
Step 5
The advantage of a biometric passport is that it is more difficult to counterfeit. It is believed that this creates more confidence at the border and speeds up the passage through it. In addition, the laser-printed photo will not fade over time, and the plastic data page will not fray.
