When looking for a new job, a resume is the first step towards the desired position. And now it has been created, sent out to more than one organization - all that remains is to wait for invitations to an interview. However, a day or two passes…. No one is in a hurry with job offers. What's the matter? Perhaps, when drawing up a resume, mistakes were made that did not allow the recruiter to opt for it. How to write a resume and avoid mistakes?
Instructions
Step 1
Aimless resume
If you have compiled a resume, entered your personal data, information about past work, etc., and send it unchanged to all vacancies in a row, there will be no positive result. To achieve the goal, resumes must be clearly position-specific. It is best to indicate it in the "Purpose" and "Qualifications" sections.
Remove all unnecessary information, do not list small, not very important jobs for the desired position (with long work experience). Do not get carried away with describing your hobbies and interests, indicate only those that may be useful in your new position.
If you are sending CVs for several positions to one organization, make them different from each other, send them from your different email addresses. This is necessary so that the potential employer does not get the impression that you yourself do not know what you want.
Step 2
Illiterate, sloppy resume
Before submitting your resume, check it carefully - remove grammatical errors, typos, parasitic words. It is advisable to arrange it (at least the main information) on one sheet. The text should be typed in the same style: it is recommended to use Times New Roman font of at least 12, one and a half line spacing Highlight the heading, full name, important information in your opinion in bold, increase its size. A PowerPoint resume is fine, but avoid bright, flashy colors.
Step 3
Little contact information.
The resume should contain as much contact information as possible so that the recruiter can quickly contact you. For example, one email address is clearly not enough. You must, at a minimum, provide a cell phone number.
Step 4
The presence of incorrect data, an attempt to deceive
It is quite common to check the biography of applicants before hiring. If during the verification process it turns out that you have made an attempt to deceive a potential employer, have hidden important, negative facts of your biography, the road to this organization is closed for you. And if it's a recruiting agency, then the consequences for you could be even worse.
