Many people confuse psychologists with psychiatrists and psychotherapists. Although the difference between these specialties is huge. The first are healers of human souls, advisors and "vests" for complaints. And psychiatrists and psychotherapists are doctors with specialized medical education, designed to deal with a variety of deviations from the norm and diseases.

Psychologist profession - tasks

Depending on which of the fields of activity the psychologist has chosen, his tasks also differ. The psychologist in the firm is responsible for the climate in the team, morale. When hiring, he must calculate conflicting and asocial personalities, and decide whether they can get along in a team or not. In this case, the psychologist must have not only specific skills - you can check temperament and psychological stability with the help of tests, which are just taught at the Faculty of Psychology, but also have a developed intuition. Experienced job seekers may well cheat tests in order to present themselves in a better light in front of the employer. But they are unlikely to be able to conduct a professional psychologist.

A psychologist conducting private practice and accepting clients on a variety of issues must have the gift of persuasion. Perhaps one of the most important tasks of such psychologists is to instill in a person the idea that everything is in his hands. That he can change his life at any moment, and there is no point in being upset and worried about failures. Also, a psychologist should help a person decide what is really important for him and what is secondary. And what, in the first place, should you focus your efforts on.

A psychologist in a kindergarten or school is a very important and responsible job. Its main tasks are to help children cope with problems that their parents do not notice or consider insignificant. And such problems, according to psychologists, do not exist. The lightest psychological traumas received in early childhood leave an imprint on the soul of a person for life. And so that they do not develop into a psychiatric illness, do not cause deviant behavior, it is necessary to stop them in the bud.

The profession of a psychologist is in demand

Currently, in large cities, the profession of a psychologist is quite in demand. They are hired by large companies, and many HR departments need such specialists. In addition, gymnasiums, lyceums, preschool development centers have long understood that the psychologist's job in the state is not at all superfluous. Periodic meetings with a specialist help children to react much less sharply to the surrounding reality, to adapt more quickly to a group of peers, to accept and understand what parents and educators are trying to convey to them. But specialists who practice in private are not yet very successful even in large cities. The inhabitants of Russia do not have the habit, like Europeans and Americans, to solve their psychological problems with the help of specialists. It seems to people that it is easier to complain to a friend, husband, wife, than to a professional who will not only regret, but also give practical advice on solving a psychological problem. But everything is changing, and, perhaps, soon psychologists' offices will be as widespread in their homeland as they are now in the United States and Europe.
