Necessary

  • - application to the FMS;
  • - application to the registry office;
  • - birth certificate;
  • - a passport with an incorrect entry;
  • - 4 passport photos.

Instructions

Step 1

In accordance with Article 70 of the Federal Law, it is possible to change the information in the passport in the event of an erroneous entry. A person at his own will can change the last name, first name, patronymic, but not the date of birth. The only exceptions are adopted children. Foster parents can change their date of birth three months forward or backward, but they will change it in the registry office, and the date specified in the birth certificate will be entered in the passport.

Step 2

Also, information is entered into the passport for all citizens on the basis of a birth certificate. What is written there will be indicated in the passport. Hence the conclusion: it is possible to change the year of birth only if an erroneous entry is found.

Step 3

To change the document, contact the Federal Migration Service, write an application, submit a birth certificate, a passport with erroneous data, 4 passport photos. After one week, you will be given a document with the correct entry.

Step 4

If an incorrect entry was made in the birth certificate and a passport was issued on the basis of it, apply to the civil registry authorities. On the basis of the application, the record will be corrected, a new birth certificate will be issued. Then you need to contact the Federal Migration Service.

Step 5

If the civil registry authorities record exactly the same entry in the register and registration book as in the birth certificate, and you do not agree with this, then all disputable issues are decided by the Arbitration Court. Therefore, go to court and present irrefutable evidence that all the entries made about the date of birth are recorded incorrectly. As evidence, you can use witnesses, a birth certificate from a maternity hospital, etc. In this case, the entries in all documents will be corrected only on the basis of a ruling issued by the court.
