In accordance with Russian legislation, citizens who have left for permanent residence abroad can exercise their right to a pension by submitting an application to the PFR authorities.
Instructions
Step 1
You can submit an application to the Pension Fund for transferring your pension in person, send it by mail or through your authorized representative (his powers are notarized). You can send by mail only copies of documents certified by a notary.
Step 2
If you are just planning to go abroad for permanent residence, you only need a passport, an international passport, a certificate of salary for the last 5 years, a work book and an application where you will have to indicate your future foreign address. If you already live abroad and have reached retirement age, contact the General Consulate of the Russian Federation in order to certify the following documents: - a copy of the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation; - a copy of SNILS (if you do not have one, you will have to fill out a questionnaire); - a copy of the work book; - a copy of the military ID; - a copy of the document confirming the change of surname.
Step 3
Obtain from the consulate and a document confirming your location abroad. Attach a statement to it. Indicate in what currency you would like to receive your pension and account details. You will also need a certificate of salary for any 5 years of experience in the USSR or Russia. Submit all documents to the FIU.
Step 4
Please note: you will not be able to count on receiving a pension transferred from the PFR if: - the pension was assigned to you according to the laws in force in the USSR (this applies to those who left Russia before December 1991); - you receive social benefits and payments from a foreign state (this also applies to people with disabilities); - receive a labor pension in accordance with international agreements of the USSR or the Russian Federation with other states (these include almost all former Soviet republics, many countries of the former socialist camp, etc.).
Step 5
In order to receive a pension abroad on time, you will be required to submit (send) to the FIU the original document confirming the fact of your being alive on December 31 of each year. To get it, you will have to contact the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in the country of your permanent residence.
