An old-age pension is a regular lifetime payment that the state provides to persons who have reached retirement age. But in order to receive the well-deserved security from the state, you need to issue an old-age pension by collecting the necessary package of documents and submitting them to the management of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation. Otherwise, without an appropriate application and documentation, the pension will not be credited.

Who is eligible for an old-age pension

Persons who have reached a certain age, the scope of which is stipulated in the law "On state pensions in the Russian Federation", have the right to issue an old-age pension. These are women who have reached 55 years of age and men over 60 years of age who have an insurance experience of 5 years or more.

Where and when you can apply for an old-age pension

To apply for an old-age pension, you should contact the territorial office of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation at the place of permanent registration, and in case of its absence, the pension is issued at the address of actual residence.

You can submit an application and documents for the appointment of pension payments at any time after reaching retirement age, but not earlier than one month before the right to receive the age pension arises. In the case of applying to the Pension Fund for processing payments before the onset of retirement age, the pension is assigned the next day after the right to it arises. If the registration takes place at a later date, then the pension is assigned on the day following the date of contacting the Pension Fund and filing an application.

Documents for registration of an old-age pension

In order to apply for an old-age pension, it is necessary to prepare originals, as well as photocopies of the following mandatory documents:

- an application for the appointment of a pension on a form that can be taken from the branch of the Pension Fund;

- identity documents (passport, for military personnel it is necessary to have a military card);

- a document confirming temporary registration in the event that it is planned to receive a pension not at the place of residence of permanent registration;

- a document confirming the existence of insurance experience (work record book);

- a certificate showing the average monthly earnings for a period of 60 months of continuous work experience, regardless of the period and place of work;

- pension insurance certificate.

This list is mandatory in order to apply for an old-age pension. But in some situations, when assigning an age pension, it is necessary to provide an additional list of documentation. So, in order to obtain a state old-age pension, in some cases, it is necessary to attach the following documents to the general package:

- documents certifying the applicant's participation in the elimination of the consequences of man-made or radiation disasters;

- documents confirming the address registration of the applicant in the exclusion zones and radioactive contamination;

- work record, indicating the availability of work experience when working in areas of radioactive contamination;

- certificates confirming that the applicant has disabled relatives, as well as documents confirming the income of the whole family;

- documents confirming the applicant's residence in regions with difficult climatic conditions.

One of the most common problems when applying for an old-age pension is a work book that is filled in incorrectly. In the process of working, the employee does not pay sufficient attention to the entries in the work book, which can be performed with errors. Many years later, when the need arises to issue an old-age pension, employees of the Pension Fund refuse to accept a document with a blurry seal, blots in the records, as well as inconsistencies in order numbers.

To prevent this from happening, you must first view all the records in the labor book, and if there are doubts about the correctness of the records, then confirm them with other documents.
