As a confirmation of your right to property, you present to the registering department of the traffic police a contract for the sale and purchase of a car, a gift or other document. The set of other documents is universal for all cases.

Step 1
Make an appointment with your registration department of the traffic police at your place of residence via the online form on the website of the regional traffic police department or the portal of public services. There you can also fill out an application for registering a car for a new owner (that is, for yourself) via the Internet. If transit numbers are issued for the car, you must register the car before their expiration date. When you live in the same region with the previous owner, you do not need to issue transit numbers and pay the state duty for making new ones. The car will be re-registered to you with the same license plate.
Step 2
Pay the necessary state duties: for issuing a car registration certificate, making changes to the existing registration certificate, if necessary, new state numbers. You can check the size of state duties and details for their payment on the website of the regional traffic police department, at the registering unit or Sberbank branches.
Step 3
On the appointed day, bring the car to the site for inspection and come to an appointment at the registration department with a package of necessary documents: yours is presented on the website of the regional traffic police department. If everything is in order, all the necessary actions, as a rule, will be performed on the same day and you can return home driving a car registered for you.
