Instructions
Step 1
Buy a computer or upgrade your old one by purchasing a powerful sound card. When buying, do not be guided by promoted brands, choose quality. An audio card must have the optimal number of connectors for connecting the required number of speakers and microphones, have a wide frequency range and support all the latest software, and, in addition, have a convenient interface for both internal and external use.
Step 2
Don't skimp on software. Purchase professional software packages to meet all the latest recording quality requirements.
Step 3
Purchase monitor speakers and headphones as a set so that there is no discrepancy in frequencies during playback. The speakers should not be too powerful, otherwise resonance may occur when listening to the recording loudly. Select the size of the headphones so that there is no inconvenience during work.
Step 4
Buy microphones, depending on what exactly you are going to record (at least at first). The more expensive and high-quality a microphone is, the higher its sensitivity, respectively. Therefore, when recording aspiring vocalists, it is better to use cheaper microphones.
Step 5
Use cables of the same length for different recording channels so that there is no distortion in the sound.
Step 6
Purchase a midi keyboard with an integrated controller that supports the software you intend to use or have worked with before. Otherwise, you will later have to reprogram the entire system, buy new equipment or retrain.
Step 7
There are a few simple guidelines to follow when placing your equipment. Place the monitor speakers symmetrically at head level so that when you work, you can see exactly the side of the speaker from which the sound is coming. If possible, install the sound card so that it is convenient for you to work with its connectors. Connect a midi keyboard, speakers, headphones and microphones. When connecting the keyboard, be sure to install (update) the software that came with it. Connect all studio components with cables.
Step 8
Install software or service packs for your existing studio recording software. Specify the hardware in the program settings. Restart your computer if necessary. The studio is ready to go.
