It happens that parents decide to formalize paternity after receiving the child's birth certificate, where the mother is indicated as the only parent, or the father is written in according to the mother's words. To do this, you must submit a certain set of documents to the registry office.
If the child was born out of wedlock, and the mother decided not to formalize the child's father as an official parent, then a "dash" is put in the birth certificate or the father is recorded according to the mother's words. In this case, the surname of the pope in the document will be the same as that of the mother, even if this is not true.
Even after receiving such a birth certificate, parents (with mutual consent) can establish the paternity of the child and change the birth certificate. To do this, the following documents must be submitted to the registry office:
- passports of both parents, - application for establishing paternity, - birth certificate of the child.
When establishing paternity, the child can either assign the father's surname or leave the mother's surname.
After the procedure for establishing paternity, the old birth certificate of the child is withdrawn from the parents and a new one is issued, where both parents are indicated. The document will contain the name indicated by the mother and father in the paternity certificate.
Usually, a new birth certificate is issued on the day of application, together with a certificate of paternity. If the family lives abroad, the documents can be processed at the Consulate of the Russian Federation, but in this case it may take several months to obtain a new birth certificate.
