The procedure for obtaining this requisite and the requirements for the submitted documents are established by the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation.
SNILS or insurance number of an individual personal account is a unique requisite that is used by the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation and its territorial divisions to simplify the accounting of insurance premiums received for a particular citizen. It is to this account that all insurance premiums are transferred that were paid by the employers of the insured person during the period of his labor or service activity. This number is fixed on a special document - an insurance certificate, which is issued to a citizen on the basis of a personal appeal. How to get SNILS yourself?
To independently obtain an insurance certificate, a citizen will need to contact the territorial office of the Pension Fund at the place of his own registration. At the department, you must fill out a questionnaire and present your passport, no other documents are required. Then the specialists of the department will issue a ready-made certificate within 1-2 weeks after the application. A similar procedure is applied when registering minor children in the compulsory pension insurance system. The parent must present his / her own passport, the child's passport (or birth certificate for children under 14 years old), then fill out the form and wait for the document to be produced. The certificate must be obtained independently at the same branch of the Pension Fund (at the place of official registration).
How to get SNILS with the help of an employer?
If a citizen has not previously carried out labor activities, then he may not have an insurance certificate. In this case, the simplest option for obtaining a personal account number is to register in the pension insurance system through an employer. When applying for a job, you must fill out a special questionnaire of the insured person, after which the organization is obliged to independently send the documents for obtaining a certificate to the appropriate branch of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation within two weeks. After receiving the questionnaire, other documents, the authorized body prepares a certificate within three weeks and sends it to the employer. The latter is obliged to transfer the document to the employee within a week from the date of its receipt.
