If you find out that according to the will you got any housing, you need to take care of the correct legal registration of rights. Until that moment, you cannot dispose of this property.
Necessary
- - death certificate of the testator;
- - certificate of sample F-9, which reflects the last place of registration of the testator;

Instructions
Step 1
Within six months after the death of the testator, you need to contact a notary so that a specialist tells you your next steps. If you were not aware that the person who bequeathed the apartment to you died and missed the deadline for accepting the inheritance, you will need to prove your ignorance.
Step 2
If you live in another city, consider applying for a power of attorney to handle cases for a relative, friend or lawyer. It should clearly list the actions that the person will carry out: collecting documents, certificates and further registration of the apartment in your name.
Step 3
For your first visit to the notary, you need to prepare the following papers:
- death certificate of the testator;
- certificate of sample F-9, which reflects the last place of registration of the testator;
- will;
- a document confirming the ownership of the testator for this property (purchase and sale or privatization agreement);
- Your passport.
Step 4
These documents will be checked by a notary and will inform you if any further certificates are needed. For the next stage of registration of an apartment by will, you will need:
- the original of the contract of privatization or purchase and sale of an apartment, its photocopy;
- registration certificate for the living space and a photocopy.
Step 5
If you did not find the technical passport for the apartment or it was too old, in the PIB (design and inventory bureau) you need to provide a document on the testator's ownership of housing and one photocopy. The bureau will need to pay a certain amount for a passport. The commission will visit the apartment for unauthorized alterations and specification of the footage. In one to two weeks you will be given a new registration certificate.
Step 6
After submitting these documents to the notary, after a certain time, he will hand you a certificate of entry into inheritance rights. This will not happen before the expiration of the six-month period after the death of the testator. The certificate will need to be registered with the FRS (Federal Registration Service). In return for the surrendered paper, you will receive a certificate of state registration of ownership of the property bequeathed to you.
Step 7
Usually it takes about a month to wait for this document. In the certificate of registration in your name in the section "Founding documents" it will be noted that you received the apartment by will. After receiving this paper, you will have the full right to dispose of real estate: register at an address, sell or rent out living space.
