Step 1
New generation foreign passports - biometric - have been in use for over five years. During this time, many complaints were expressed against the migration service - namely, this department is authorized to draw up documents for citizens to travel abroad. The main thing is the extremely long waiting period for document processing. This is due to the fact that earlier, private companies connected with the Federal Migration Service and even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were engaged in the issuance of passports, and therefore it was both faster and easier to submit documents.
Step 2
Today, documents for obtaining a foreign passport can be submitted to the territorial office of the migration service at the place of registration or residence. Moreover, it should be borne in mind, firstly, that admission is rarely carried out on a first-come, first-served basis, in almost all departments a preliminary appointment is made.
Step 3
Secondly, in order to produce a biometric foreign passport, a migration service employee must take your digital photo using special equipment. This equipment is not only voluminous, but also expensive, and therefore is not available in every territorial point. This means that, for example, in a small village, you will not be able to take a picture with a new document, most likely the device will be installed in the regional center or in the nearest city. Step 4
To speed up the processing of foreign documents a few years ago, by a government decree, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Passport and Visa Center" was established. This is a semi-commercial enterprise, which itself does not draw up or issue anything, but provides intermediary services to citizens in filling out questionnaires for biopassports, as well as "approaching" the date of photographing on a special camera. You can hand over documents for a certain fee to the employees of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise, they will also offer the date and time of the next "extraordinary" appointment with the employee of the migration service.
Step 5
If you travel abroad as an employee of a diplomatic mission, Red Cross, pilot (captain) or steward, you may be issued a diplomatic passport. This is a higher level document, it is - unlike ordinary red passports - green. Documents for a diplomatic passport are submitted to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
