Ostap Bender, intending to cross the Romanian border, did not get a reliable passport at one time, so the success of his enterprise was obviously doubtful. Today, those who have the opportunity to issue such a document receive the right to visa-free travel to the Eurozone, as well as to the countries of Latin America and Southeast Asia.
Instructions
Step 1
Find out if you belong to one of the categories of citizens eligible for a Romanian passport. According to existing laws, such an opportunity is provided to direct descendants (up to the third generation) of former Romanian citizens who were born or lived from 1918 to 1940 on the territory of Bessarabia (part of modern Moldova and Romania). Knowledge of the language of this country is not a prerequisite. Of course, spouses of Romanian citizens will also be able to obtain a passport.
Step 2
Fill out the application form for a Romanian passport, where indicate your full name, address, information on marital status and children. Send it to the consular section of the embassy of this state. Find out the date and time of application for submission of documents.
Step 3
Prepare all documents, namely: - passport of a citizen of one of the countries of the former USSR; - passport of a spouse (in the event that she / he is a citizen of Romania); - marriage certificate (in any case); - birth certificates children; - documents confirming that your relatives lived on the territory of Romania; - written consent of children over 14 years old, as well as your spouse, to obtain such citizenship by children under 14 years old (if they receive it with you).
Step 4
In addition to identity cards and civil status acts, you will have to submit other documents: - certificates of no criminal record in Romania and in the country of which you are a citizen; - evidence that you have already submitted (or not submitted) documents to other official bodies of Romania; - a statement on the change or retention of your place of residence (that is, whether you are going to live in Romania or another state); - a subscription that you have not taken any action against the security of Romania, and are not going to do it.
Step 5
Prepare and submit the entire extensive package of documents, assure them at the Romanian consulate. Wait for a response from the Ministry of Justice of Romania on the restoration of your rights as a citizen of this country. Take the oath and receive your passport.
