Step 1

Find out if you belong to one of the categories of citizens eligible for a Romanian passport. According to existing laws, such an opportunity is provided to direct descendants (up to the third generation) of former Romanian citizens who were born or lived from 1918 to 1940 on the territory of Bessarabia (part of modern Moldova and Romania). Step 2

Fill out the application form for a Romanian passport, where indicate your full name, address, information on marital status and children. Send it to the consular section of the embassy of this state. Find out the date and time of application for submission of documents.

Step 3

Prepare all documents, namely: - passport of a citizen of one of the countries of the former USSR; - passport of a spouse (in the event that she / he is a citizen of Romania); - marriage certificate (in any case); - birth certificates children; - documents confirming that your relatives lived on the territory of Romania; - written consent of children over 14 years old, as well as your spouse, to obtain such citizenship by children under 14 years old (if they receive it with you).

Step 5

Prepare and submit the entire extensive package of documents, assure them at the Romanian consulate. Wait for a response from the Ministry of Justice of Romania on the restoration of your rights as a citizen of this country. Take the oath and receive your passport.
