Work with people

For a long time, the reputation and attractiveness of a hotel or hotel depended not only on low prices and comfortable rooms, but also on the level of service, courtesy and attentiveness of the staff. In the past, guests were often greeted on the doorstep by the owner himself. He was also involved in showing numbers, financial issues, conflict resolution and so on.

The need for these services still exists, however, in the modern hotel business, these functions fall on the appropriate specialist - the hotel administrator. It is he who is responsible for meeting and accommodating guests, consulting, booking rooms and issuing keys. As a rule, the administrator's work schedule is three or three days later. This number of days off is due to the rather harmful nature of the work, which includes constant stress, intense communication with people, and nighttime activity.

Most hotels provide their employees with substantial discounts on meals, access to the gym or swimming pool. In addition, do not forget about the tips that are left by satisfied guests.

Other responsibilities

In addition to representative functions, the hotel administrator controls and organizes the work of all hotel personnel, makes financial settlements with guests, and provides various additional services, such as transfers, organizing excursions, and ordering a taxi. In addition, the administrator is responsible for the preparation of reporting documentation, and, therefore, the candidate for this vacancy must be familiar with the basics of workflow. Naturally, experience in the hotel business is encouraged, as well as knowledge of foreign languages at a conversational level.

You can get a professional education both in secondary specialized educational institutions and in specialized universities that train specialists in the tourism business. In addition, some hotels are involved in staff training.

The administrator is actually the main intermediary between the guest and the hotel, which means that it is he who is obliged to solve all the questions that arise among the guests as quickly as possible, trying to extinguish possible conflicts. As in any other business related to the service sector, in the hotel business, the client's desire is the law. Negative reviews of guests on the Internet can greatly spoil the reputation of even the most prestigious hotel, so the administrator is obliged to organize the maximum level of comfort for each guest.

In this position, there is nothing to do to irritable or conflicted people who do not have sufficient stress resistance and the ability to get out of difficult situations. The difficulties of the profession are offset by relatively high wages and career prospects.
