Unemployment is understood as a socio-economic phenomenon characterized by unemployment among the economically active population. Full employment of the economically active population of a country can be, perhaps, only in theory or in states with a firmly rooted command-administrative system. In reality, almost every country in the world has a certain level of unemployment.
Instructions
Step 1
According to the terminology of the International Labor Organization, a person between the ages of 10 and 72 is recognized as unemployed if three conditions are met: he is unemployed, is in the process of looking for a job, and is ready to start work. In Russia, citizens are recognized as unemployed under the same conditions, adjusted for age: from 15 years.
Step 2
To determine the unemployment rate, know that there are several definitions of this concept:
- the ratio of the unemployed to the total number of registered workers and employees;
- a macroeconomic indicator characterizing the ratio of the number of unemployed to the total labor force;
- the percentage of unemployed in the total number of civilian labor, etc.
Step 3
Accordingly, determine the unemployment rate using a very simple formula: the ratio of the unemployed to the total working-age population of the country.
Step 4
Find out the total working-age population, for example, on the website of the Federal State Statistics Service. In the same place, find out the number of unemployed in the country and make a calculation.
Step 5
To determine the level in a particular industry, it is necessary to conduct a statistical study and find the number of unemployed able-bodied citizens specializing in this industry. Then divide this number by the total number of citizens who work and could work in the industry.
Step 6
When determining the level of unemployment, remember that it has several varieties: forced, registered, structural, hidden and even voluntary. Using official data, you will get the official unemployment rate.
