When a child falls ill, each parent has a lot of questions: what to do, how to treat and where to go, and most importantly - what to do with work? Let's consider how to get sick leave for childcare in various situations.
Registration of a certificate of incapacity for work for caring for a child
If a child falls ill, and you need to look after him, and you cannot miss work in any way, then according to the law you have the right to receive a certificate of incapacity for work for the period of the child's illness. Consider the detailed steps for getting sick leave in inpatient and outpatient treatment.
If the child's illness came suddenly, but nothing threatens his life, then you need to call a pediatrician from the nearest clinic to which you are attached to the house. After the appointment of treatment, you must notify the doctor that you need a sick leave. The pediatrician is empowered and can issue a certificate of incapacity for work if necessary. The same rights are possessed by narrow specialists working in a polyclinic: if a doctor sees that a child needs home treatment with the termination of attendance at an educational institution, then the parent has the right to ask for a sick leave to take care of the sick child. A certificate of incapacity for work is issued for a period of up to 15 days, the subsequent extension is possible only upon passing a special medical commission. In order to receive a sick leave, you need to come to the clinic with the child for discharge, in case of recovery, the doctor will give you a sheet.
If you and your child are admitted to an ambulance hospital or on a planned basis (including a hospital at a polyclinic), then the sick leave is issued by this medical institution on the day of discharge and only if the parent is with the child together during the entire stay in the medical institution. You must inform the attending physician about the need to obtain a certificate of incapacity for work on the day of admission to the hospital.
The sick leave is issued on the date of the first visit, it is prohibited to issue sick leave on other dates and is punishable under criminal law, regardless of the previous circumstances.
Who can get a certificate of incapacity for work for child care
According to the current legislation, a sick leave for childcare can be obtained by a mother, father, guardian or any relative who will actually be with the child during his illness. The degree of kinship does not matter, just like the actual residence with the child. The main thing is that the relative must officially work and be insured with the FSS. For example, a working grandmother who lives separately may take a sick leave to take care of her grandchild. It is forbidden to receive several sick leave (for example, mother and father at the same time) for caring for a child for the same period, but sick leave certificates can be issued alternately to different relatives of the child within the established time frame.
