One of the important components of business cooperation is the ability to conduct a business conversation. The main task is to convince a potential client or partner that the offer is really profitable. Where to start a business conversation?
Instructions
Step 1
Start the conversation with a mutual introduction if this is your first time meeting with the other person. Tell us what kind of organization you represent, what it does. If you are already familiar, a short introductory speech on the events since your last meeting can be a good start for dialogue.
Step 2
Do not rush with suggestions and questions on a topic that interests you. You must "deserve" the information you need and consent to consider your terms and conditions. But also don't start a conversation from afar. You can briefly describe the current state of affairs in the market for goods and services, talk about the latest trends and technologies. In doing so, focus on the interests of the interlocutor and the profile of his organization.
Step 3
Build the conversation so that you can move from general discussion to the main topic. Listen carefully to what the interlocutor says, watch his behavior. If he is visibly nervous or answers in monosyllables, do not delay with the proposal. It is possible that he is in a hurry or is simply not interested in working with you. Thus, you will save both him and your time.
Step 4
Speak calmly, clearly, without excessive expression. Take your time, let the interlocutor determine what your proposal is and whether it is worth working with you. Address him by name and patronymic, often say: "you", "your", "for you." Focus attention on his person, while avoiding pleading and obsequious intonations. This is unacceptable for business collaboration, even if you are really asking for something. Remember that the best idea can fail if the person presenting it is unpleasant to communicate.
Step 5
If you want to establish the level of authority of the interlocutor, do not ask him right away whether he is in charge of certain questions. It is possible that he considers this conversation as a preliminary one, and subsequently your immediate supervisor will talk to you. But in any case, do not show your disappointment that the decision on your proposal may be delayed.
