An architect is a creative profession, so some of them prefer to work alone and embody their ideas on their own, from drawings on paper to an erected building. But working groups of architects always work on the development of large projects, making joint decisions. Such a group should be led by a chief architect who is responsible for the successful implementation of the project.
Instructions
Step 1
Only a person with special knowledge and extensive experience can be the chief architect of a project. He must be able not only to design, but also to protect the adopted design decisions, to coordinate them with the supervisory and examination authorities. The chief architect of the project is entrusted with responsibilities for the implementation of architectural supervision, control over the timing of the development of documentation. They provide the technical and economic level of design solutions.
Step 2
To become a chief architect, you need to gain practical experience and prove your professional competence in practice. You can start your activity with the design of small objects and small architectural forms, auxiliary low-rise buildings. But subsequently, you will need to gain experience in managing design work, coordinating the developed working documentation with customer organizations and in supervisory authorities.
Step 3
You will need knowledge of all stages of the design process, modern technologies of construction and finishing works, the latest trends in architecture. In addition to all the GOSTs and SNiPs existing in construction, you should perfectly know the rules, instructions and guidelines for the design of buildings and structures of various types and purposes.
Step 4
The chief architect is unthinkable without knowledge and confident possession of specialized software - MS Office, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD. You should also be able to make the necessary calculations to control the technical and economic level of design and architectural solutions, the volume and timing of construction work and the development of documentation.
Step 5
As shown by studies conducted on the labor market, more than half of the number of chief architects speak foreign languages at a basic level, which makes it possible to study specialized literature in the original. So knowledge of foreign languages is another requirement for those who dream of becoming the chief architect of a project.
