To cross the Russian border, a citizen of the Russian Federation must have a passport, including children, starting from birth. To obtain a passport for a child under 14 years old, you will need to collect everything you need and come to the department of the Federal Migration Service (FMS) at the place of residence (stay).
It is necessary

- - photographs of the child on matte paper in the size of 3, 5x4, 5 cm;
- - birth certificate of the child (and a photocopy);
- - a document confirming the citizenship of the Russian Federation (and a photocopy);
- - passport of the legal representative (and a photocopy);
- - a receipt for payment of the state duty.

Step 1
Now Russians have the opportunity to issue a passport of one of two types: old or new. The new passport contains a chip with the owner's biometric data, it cannot be forged. Its validity period is twice as long as the old-style passport and is 10 years. It also has more blank sheets for affixing visas. But to obtain it, you will need to pay a larger state fee.
Step 2
First of all, contact the territorial office of the FMS and write an application form of the established form. It is printed on both sides of the sheet. It is necessary to fill out the application either with the help of electronic computers or by hand in legible handwriting (or in block letters) with black paste.
Step 3
Since the child is not 14 years old, all the documents must be drawn up by the parents. In their absence, this duty is assigned to his legal representatives, guardians or notarial trustees. Documents confirming these powers must be attached to the application.
Step 4
Take the completed application form, photographs for the passport (for an old-style passport, you need 2 pieces of 3, 5x4, 5 cm in size, for a new one 1 piece), a receipt for payment of the state fee, a child's birth certificate and a document confirming Russian citizenship (and a photocopier each of them). Do not forget your legal representative's passport and photocopy. By the way, the presence of a child when applying for a new passport is required.
Step 5
The period for obtaining a passport from the moment of filing an application with the necessary documents attached to the place of residence will take no more than one month. If you applied for your place of actual residence or stay within four months.
