Step 1
The very first step is obtaining a birth certificate. Without it, you will not be able to issue any documents, benefits and, of course, you will not be able to register the child at the place of residence. A birth certificate can be obtained at any registry office. To do this, you will need to present the passports of both parents, a certificate from the hospital and a marriage certificate. Do not delay obtaining a certificate, because a certificate from the hospital is valid only for one month from the date of discharge. If the parents are not married, the child's father will write a statement asking to acknowledge paternity, and at the same time with the birth certificate, you will also receive a document certifying paternity. If dad is absent, then his surname, name and patronymic will be written down from the words of the mother. If you wish, you can even leave a dash in the "father" column.
Step 2
Having received the birth certificate of the child, you can go to the house administration or the housing office in order to prescribe the baby. The easiest option is when mom and dad are registered in one place and live in a registered marriage. In this case, you will need your father's passport, mother's passport, marriage certificate and birth certificate. In order to register a child with parents, the consent of the rest of the residents registered at this address is not required. Write a statement addressed to the head of the local police department with a request to register the child. Verify the statement with the head of the housing office - and that's it. Be prepared that your passports will be taken away from you for a few days.
Step 3
If the parents are registered in different places, and you want to register the baby with the mother, you will need to additionally take a certificate from the father's place of residence that the child is not registered with him. Thus, you will need the following package of documents: father's passport, mother's passport, marriage certificate, birth certificate, copy of birth certificate, certificate from the father's place of residence that the child is not registered at this address.
Step 4
If the parents are registered in different places, and you want to register the child with the father, you will need even more documents. As usual, you will bring the passports of both parents, marriage certificate, birth certificate, a certificate from the mother's place of residence that the child is not registered with her, and a copy of the birth certificate. In addition, in the housing office where you will submit the documents, you will have to write two applications addressed to the head of the local police department and certify them with the head of the housing department. This is a statement by the father with a request to register the child at his registration address and a statement of consent of the mother that she does not object to the child being registered with the father.
Step 5
After registration, a small stamp will be placed on the child's certificate. In addition, you can take in the housing office a certificate of registration of the child and his joint residence with his parents. You will need this certificate to receive your monthly Child Benefit, which will be paid until the age of 16. This benefit is paid only to families in which the monthly income for each family member is below the subsistence level.
