First of all, write him a letter or send a fax with a request to contact you, if there is no response, then two options are possible: either find a common language and come to a compromise sooner or later, or find another lawyer and refuse the services of the previous one. Just be sure to first find a new one that inspires more confidence, hand over the affairs to him, and then abandon the old one.
Step 2
To take a case from a lawyer, you must directly contact him with this request. You may be asked to sign a power of attorney for your new representative to contact your old lawyer. This can be done even if you have not paid for the services already rendered. It is possible that you have questions about the amount of payment; it may seem too high to you. All this can be solved later, now take care of more important matters.
Step 3
If the lawyer does not meet halfway and does not give the documents, file a complaint against him with the local bar association. As for the payment for services that seems exorbitant to you, there are several options for action: - pay the entire amount and never contact this defender again; - pay the entire amount, and then sue him, suing him for the payment of the difference between the amount paid and the actual cost of the work performed; - pay the entire bill and appeal to the disciplinary commission with a complaint; - pay part of the amount, and send a letter to the lawyer explaining your refusal to pay the entire bill; - not pay at all until he agrees with a smaller amount of his fee, while you can contact the Bar Association, asking them to act as arbitration.
