A search is an investigative action under Art. 182 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This is a forced intrusion carried out with the aim of inspecting structures, premises, clothing and a person's body in order to find and seize documents, objects, as well as to find wanted criminals and victims.

Step 1
Since a search is a forced intrusion, a special permission from the prosecutor, a sanction, is required. In certain cases, searches can be carried out without permission. However, within 24 hours, the investigator is obliged to inform the prosecutor about its conduct.
Step 2
At the preliminary stage of the search, enter the searched object. Explain to the searched their rights and responsibilities. Offer to voluntarily issue documents, objects of interest, values.
Step 3
Check out the place of the search. Determine its boundaries, identify places that require special attention. Select hardware. Use photography and video recording to record the search. Get help from specialists.
Step 4
Safety is ensured by clear instructions to the participants. It is advisable to include a cynologist with a search dog in the group. They will help you find explosive devices, drugs, corpses. Study in advance the psychological traits of the person being searched, such as character, temperament, etc.
Step 5
Study in detail and consistently all the objects that are at the search site. Until you finish exploring one object, do not move on to the next. An important role is played by the exact execution of duties by each member of the investigative-operational group.
Step 6
File the search results. Draw up a protocol, plan, diagram, finish photographing and filming. Determine which items are subject to seizure. Make an inventory of the property, if necessary.
