Almost everyone has mistakes at work. It is not so important what exactly your fault is - for example, you forgot to submit an important document for the company on time or accidentally missed a pre-planned business meeting. Sooner or later you have to deal with the consequences, think about how to get out of this situation with the least losses.
Instructions
Step 1
Once you realize that you have made a fatal mistake, try to emotionally detach yourself from the unpleasant situation. Don't fuss or panic. Sit down, breathe deeply and freely, try to relax. If you are sitting on pins and needles in your office, leave the room, walk down the hallway, get some fresh air outside, or wash yourself with cold water. Only then return to your workplace. From the point of view of psychologists, under the influence of stress and emotions rushing over you, it will be difficult for you to control yourself. If you keep working right away, you are more likely to make more mistakes. It is better to leave the workplace for at least a few minutes. Get your thoughts in order before proceeding. Your emotions will subside, fear and despair will give way to sober reasoning. Hope for a good outcome, but prepare for the worst. Be prepared for anything and think about how you will act in a given situation.
Step 2
If you have made a mistake, do not try to hide it, confess. The truth will come out anyway. If your boss noticed that you were half an hour late for your appointment, it would be foolish to deny it. Psychologists believe that remorse elicits a more favorable response than a dry apology. Your boss will see that you are really upset and overwhelmed by your mistake, and will understand that you will do your best to not repeat your mistake.
Step 3
Take full responsibility for yourself. Don't blame others or force your colleagues to correct your mistakes. If only you have difficulties, then you must make the decision. Solve your problems yourself if possible. If you let someone down because of a big mistake, do not avoid talking. Discuss the next steps that you think should be taken, suggest some of your own solutions to the problem.
Step 4
Don't give too much weight to difficulties. Try to work better and more efficiently, and sooner or later your work will be appreciated. Show that you are an irreplaceable employee. Increase your performance. Don't be afraid to come up with new ideas and projects, and be kind to your employees. You will achieve positive results when you reach your potential.
