The protection of intellectual property is a complex issue both for the entire Russian society and for each author in particular. Few of the creators of intangible value make the effort to protect their virtual property until the moment of theft, although this task does not require much effort or money.

Send yourself a letter. If the article you have written is of great interest to the general public and may be stolen and reprinted in your opinion, print it out prior to publication. Please mail the printout to your own address. The postmark will indicate the day you already had your article. Therefore, you will be able to prove the fact of owning the article as the owner. Just do not print the letter when you receive it - it will only be useful to you if the case goes to court.
Step 2
Copyright Society. It is a union created by authors for authors. Branches are located in many large cities of Russia. Find the address closest to you, write the information on a disk or print it on paper. The medium does not matter, the main thing is to provide the product of your creativity in duplicate. One will remain with the representative of the society, the other, together with special notes on the date of attribution, will return to you. Keep it as safe as a document.
Step 3
Assure your right with a notary. This procedure will cost you some money, but you can count on the support of a lawyer in case of litigation. The fact of possession of information will be recorded at the time of a certain date. The sooner you do this, the more you will protect yourself.
Step 4
The principle behind all these remedies is simple: it is difficult to determine in court proceedings who first created the disputed material, you or another resource. Therefore, documents are considered confirming that one of the parties owned the information at an earlier period. By taking care of the results of your mental work in advance, you will be able to provide evidence. Plagiarists are unlikely to be able to indicate the exact date when the stolen article was published.
