The approximate algorithm of work on the selection of employees in the special forces units of the FSB is divided into several stages. At the stage of the initial selection, candidates are selected who are represented by officers, warrant officers and cadets of military schools. Only three percent of the posts in spetsnaz are not officers, they are reserved for warrant officers. In order to get into the special forces, you must not only be an officer or ensign, but have a secondary, and better higher education.

In order to become a candidate for special forces, you must have a recommendation from a current employee of the Central Service Center, as well as from "Alpha" or "Vympel". Candidates from among the cadets of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense are given preference if they have already been trained at the faculties of special forces. Those who have passed the primary selection based on the results of studying personal affairs must overcome another step, which is represented by an interview.

Particular attention to physical data that take into account height - not less than one hundred and seventy-five centimeters and age - not older than twenty-eight years.

Special forces candidates must undergo physical testing, which, for employees of different departments, have different intensities. However, in any case, it is tested in two stages, assigned for one day: standards for physical fitness and sparring in hand-to-hand combat. The requirements are high and candidates are required to show all their skills and abilities not only to withstand, but also to act actively.

At the end of the examination of physical abilities, candidates who have passed this stage will receive a special examination at the level of the next of kin. Along with this, candidates are examined by psychologists, who, thanks to special tests, study the candidate's personality, reveal the characteristics of his character, temperament, moral qualities, and so on. The next stage is to undergo a deep medical examination, which makes it possible to determine the possibility of admission to airborne training. A polygraph test is mandatory. The average passing grade is eight hundred.

If the selection tests were passed successfully, there will be a stage of interviews with relatives, who must give their written consent to the candidate's service in special forces. And only after that the enrollment takes place.
