Step 1
On the same day, call the representatives of the housing department to draw up an inspection report. The act must record the causes of flooding, as well as the damage caused by it. The document must be signed by the owners of the affected apartment, the housing department employee and neighbors, through whose fault the damage was caused. Neighbors can refuse to sign the document, but it will be valid even without their signature.

If neighbors refuse to compensate for the damage caused or offer an amount that does not correspond to the value of the damage, you will have to resort to the services of an independent expert appraiser. It is not necessary to call a specialist right away, it is better to wait a couple of days. This will make it possible to more accurately assess the scale of the accident. The cost of damage includes not only wet wallpaper with the ceiling, but also damaged electrical wiring, appliances, furniture, doors and other property. This also includes the cost of repairing and cleaning the premises, cleaning carpets and other restoration operations.
Step 3
The services of a specialist appraiser, as well as the costs of lawyers, can be recovered from the perpetrators of the flooding, but most often the neighbors agree to resolve this issue amicably. However, if the neighbors did not take any action, it is necessary to submit an application to the district court. In the case of a claim amount of less than 50 thousand rubles, the application is considered by the magistrate. If the amount of the claim exceeds the indicated amount, the case is considered already in the Federal Court.
Step 4
If you flooded your neighbors, try to resolve this problem peacefully. Explain to your neighbors that you are sorry about what happened and that you are willing to take on all the costs of restoring the property. Offer to bring them the necessary materials or recommend conscientious and good craftsmen. Remember - if the victims go to court, then you will have to pay much more. After all, you will still have to cover the costs of calling the appraiser by the neighbors, legal costs and so on.
Step 5
Conduct a personal inspection of the affected apartment. It is advisable to take a detailed photograph. After all, you have every right to know the magnitude of the damage caused by looking at the damage with your own eyes. Also be present personally at the inspection of the premises by the operating organization, control the records in the inspection report.
Step 6
Another point: record the transfer of money to neighbors in a receipt, which must be signed by both parties. This will keep you safe from statements like "I didn't get any money." After the repair, also demand that the neighbors write a receipt that the refurbishment has been fully carried out, the damage has been repaired and they have no claims against the defendant.
