Drops are people used to commit illegal activities as dummies. You can often find similar offers on various forums, message boards.
The whole point of a drop is to commit any illegal actions on its own behalf. At the same time, the person does not know what exactly can happen. Everything is done by scammers to whom you have transferred some privileges to carry out transactions.
What are drops used for?
Firstly, drops are needed to process loans and other loans, that is, the fraudster receives money and hides, and all claims are of course to the one for whom everything was issued.
Secondly, drops are needed when ordering in online stores when paying with stolen bank cards. In this case, some things are ordered to the person's address, which are later transferred to the organizer of the fraud.
Drops are often used to conduct some kind of large monetary transactions to clean up and divert attention from the organizer. At first glance, this may seem like the safest option, since you can always blame everything on the fact that access was obtained unauthorized. The simplest example is giving a SIM card to a stranger.
Why not become a drop?
Usually, a person does not know why he will receive a certain amount of money and, without unnecessary questions, transmits some data about himself or performs actions that are pleasing to the person concerned.
It is completely unknown what the cybercriminals will do with the received data, but, most likely, these will be illegal actions, since they are not carried out on personal data. The consequences can be very different, but most often either the police or the tax authorities will become interested in you.
Participation in such scams will not bring you money, because you will simply be paid for some actions, and will not be given a percentage, which is even worse, since you will already be an accomplice.
Most often, the victims are chosen either very naively or with material difficulties. Remember that any strange proposal will bring more problems than wealth.
In no case should you send your passport photos as confirmation of anything. It is not recommended to provide copies of your passport, driving license, insurance policy and other documents. You cannot register in any financial systems, open bank accounts and transfer cards for use to unauthorized persons.
It is extremely difficult to prove that the actions were not performed by you and the data was not transferred, but stolen. The legislation of the Russian Federation is not always ready to help such victims and is not adapted to all kinds of situations related to fraud.
