Pneumatic pistols, outwardly imitating military weapons, have gained wide popularity. They are sold in stores completely freely, and no documents are required to buy them, therefore, anyone can buy such a "barrel" that shoots iron balls at the expense of compressed air. This leads to the question: is it possible to carry a pneumatic pistol with you, and what restrictions are provided for by law.
First of all, we note that pneumatic weapons are different, some products can be carried with everyone, others require permits. It all depends on the muzzle energy - a parameter that determines the strength of the shot. It is equal to half of the product of the mass of the bullet and the square of the speed of its release and is measured in joules. The law divides pneumatics into several types depending on the muzzle energy - up to 3 J, up to 7.5 J, up to 25 J and over 25 J.
The first category - up to 3 Joules - includes the vast majority of air pistols available commercially. By law, only such pneumatics can be sold to everyone. Occasionally, more powerful products are sold in stores without restrictions, but they should not be there. If the muzzle energy does not exceed 3 joules (you can find this information in the certificate), such a pneumatic pistol can be carried with anyone, even a child. From the point of view of legislation, this is just a toy.
True, there is one important nuance here: waving your air pistol everywhere, you don't need to show it to everyone openly. People can confuse it with a firearm, report where it is necessary, and then unpleasant communication with police officers may await you. It is also worth keeping in mind that if you injure a person with a bullet fired from such a pistol, it will still be an injury for which you will be held responsible. In most cases, the shots from these products do not cause damage to health (just a little painful), but if, for example, the ball gets into the eye, the consequences can be serious.
Thus, if you have a low muzzle energy air pistol, you can carry it with you, but you do not need to show it to everyone and it is highly advisable not to use it. A completely logical question immediately arises: why then wear it at all? The only more or less reasonable use of pneumatics on the street is for self-defense. And even then it will not be possible to fight off the attacker with such bullets, you can only intimidate someone who cannot distinguish pneumatics from more serious types of weapons.
Samples that belong to the second category (from 3 to 7.5 J) are already weapons classified as sporting or hunting, depending on the model. They are also sold in many stores, but already in specialized ones. And not everyone can buy a pistol or rifle belonging to this category. The law allows only adults (over 18 years of age) to buy such pneumatics. At the same time, usually for the purchase of hunting or sporting weapons, a permit from the internal affairs bodies is required. However, the law makes an exception for pneumatics; such documents are not required for it.
As for carrying pistols with a muzzle energy of up to 7.5 J with you, it follows from the ban on selling them to minors that it is not allowed to carry them to persons under the age of 18. For adults, the same rules are relevant as when wearing pneumatic "toys" - not to harm other people, not to threaten, not to frighten others, not to pass off pneumatics as firearms. In addition, there is a restriction according to which hunting and sporting weapons cannot be carried loaded. Also, they can only be used in special places (shooting ranges, shooting ranges, forests where hunting is allowed).
If the muzzle energy of a pistol or rifle is more than 7.5 joules, the acquisition, storage and carrying of such weapons are governed by the same rules as for firearms. Therefore, the answer to the question of whether you can carry such pneumatics with you depends on whether you have the appropriate permissions.
