Unfortunately, crimes related to theft of someone else's property occupy the first lines of the hit parade of all criminal acts. But the victims of this category of crimes, as a rule, are more concerned with the question of how to recover the stolen property than with the punishment of the offender.

Step 1
In order to promptly return the stolen, it is necessary to contact the law enforcement agencies, with a message about the crime committed. In this case, in the course of urgent investigative and operational measures, the location of the stolen things can be discovered even before the thief can independently dispose of them.
Step 2
When the object of theft is discovered, the authorities carrying out preliminary investigation of the stolen, as a rule, are seized and the investigator or interrogator decide to transfer the stolen property to the victim for storage until the criminal case is considered by the court. Also, officials of the internal affairs bodies can and decide to store this property in a specially designated room, pending a court decision. In this case, the persons recognized as victims in the criminal case may petition at the court session to transfer the stolen goods to them.
Step 3
In cases where the criminal has already managed to realize the stolen and it was not possible to establish the location of the lost things, the victim has the right to apply to the investigator or inquiry officer with a petition to recognize him as a civil plaintiff. This petition should be accompanied by a statement of claim for the recovery from the person who committed the crime, the value of the stolen in monetary terms.
Step 4
If the criminal case was sent for judicial consideration, and during its investigation the stolen goods were not seized and the claim was not filed during the investigation, the victim has the right to apply to the court with a statement of claim against the kidnapper to recover the value of the stolen item.
Step 5
Also, a statement of claim for compensation for harm caused by a crime to the person who committed it can be filed within the statute of limitations, which is three years. Claims in this category are not subject to state duty.
