If you are a citizen of the Russian Federation and you are suddenly no longer satisfied with your passport photo, you have several options to get a new form with a new photo: reach the age of 20 or 45, change your full name or date and place of birth, change your appearance, change your gender. You can also make your passport blank or simply lose it.

Necessary

  • • photographs 35x45 mm;
  • • pay the state fee.

Instructions

Step 1

Take two photos 35x45 mm (if you intend to issue a temporary ID card of a citizen of the Russian Federation, take 4 photos). In some divisions of the FMS of Russia there is an opportunity to take photographs directly upon application. Check if you have such an opportunity.

Step 2

Pay the state duty in the prescribed amount (for issuing a passport in case of loss / theft and when replacing a document that has become unusable, the duty is higher than in all other cases).

Step 3

Contact the Federal Migration Service (passport office) at the place of your permanent registration, or at the place of stay. Take with you the photographs you have taken, a receipt for payment of the state duty, the old passport form (it will need to be handed over), all the documents necessary to put the necessary marks in the new passport: marriage certificate / divorce, birth certificates of children, military ID, etc. etc.

Step 4

Fill out the application form for the issuance / replacement of a passport. Submit the completed application and all other documents to the FMS employee. Get a temporary ID of a citizen of the Russian Federation (if necessary).

Step 5

Wait until the deadline for issuing a new passport (usually 10 days) and visit the FMS office again. When receiving a passport, carefully check all the filled in data. If you find any inaccuracies and errors, immediately inform the FMS employee about it. You will have to issue the corrected form free of charge.

Step 6

Submit your temporary ID (if you received one). Put a sample of your signature on the passport form and in the passport application and take your new passport and all the documents that you provided for affixing the necessary marks on it.
