Intentional infliction of harm to health is a crime, the responsibility for which depends on the severity of the consequences for the victim. Thus, the corresponding actions, as a result of which light, medium or serious harm to health were caused, are punishable.

Deliberate infliction of harm to health in all cases is a crime, the responsibility for which is established by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. For this offense, not only the fact of causing such harm is important, but also the severity of the consequences that have occurred, expressed in the degree of damage to the victim's health. The least severe punishment is for such an act, causing slight harm to health. In this case, in the absence of qualifying signs, it is impossible to obtain a real imprisonment, since a fine, arrest, compulsory or correctional labor are established as alternative types of punishment. A slight degree of damage to health in this case consists in its short-term disorder, insignificant disability.

Intentional infliction of average harm to health

The average severity of harm to the victim's health is revealed depending on the nature of the damage, the duration of recovery. Criminal law speaks of medium harm when a significant disability or long-term health disorder is detected. In this case, the offender, even in the absence of additional qualifying features, is threatened with real imprisonment, the term of which can be up to three years. As an alternative to this type of responsibility, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation allows you to assign compulsory or corrective labor, restriction of freedom.

Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm

Serious harm to health as a result of deliberate actions of the offender is the most serious corpus delicti of this category. This harm poses a danger to human life, causes the loss of an organ or the loss of its functionality by the organ (for example, the loss of the ability to see with one eye). In addition, those intentional acts that caused disfigurement of the face, termination of pregnancy, drug addiction, and other serious consequences for the victim can be classified as serious harm. Given the nature of such an act and its results, the legislation establishes the only type of responsibility for its commission. In the absence of additional qualifying features, this punishment will be expressed only in imprisonment, and the term of imprisonment can be up to eight years.
