Instructions

Step 1

The grounds for replacing the internal passport of the Russian Federation are exhaustively defined in a special decree of the Government of the Russian Federation. At the same time, regardless of the reason for changing the identity document, the same procedure for such replacement is applied, and the interaction of citizens with officials of passport offices is carried out according to the same scheme.

Step 2

The general reason for replacing a civil passport is the achievement of a citizen of the legal age. Initially, the main document is issued at the age of fourteen, after which it is necessary to apply for a change at the age of 20 and 45. At the same time, an appeal to the passport office must be followed within 30 days after the onset of the grounds for replacing the passport, and the only exception are conscripts who can change their passports after the end of their service life.

Step 3

In certain cases, citizens can change their first name, last name, patronymic, date or place of birth. Any of these events leads to the need to replace the passport. A classic example is the change of surname as a result of marriage, which leads to the emergence of the obligation to independently apply to the passport office with the necessary package of documents.

Step 4

The passport should be changed when a citizen changes gender. In this case, in the main document, not only information about the field is usually changed, but also personal data (last name, first name, patronymic).

Step 5

An ordinary passport is used for a long period, therefore it wears out over time. In addition, this document may be damaged or defaced to the extent that it precludes its continued use. In all such cases, a citizen is obliged to apply to the passport office with an application to replace this document. In case of deliberate damage to the passport, its owner may be brought to administrative responsibility, but the document will still have to be changed.

Step 6

In some cases, officials of the Federal Migration Service make mistakes when filling out information in new passports. In addition, inaccuracies are sometimes caused by technical glitches. If such errors are found, the citizen is also obliged to apply for a replacement passport. Inaccuracies are sometimes discovered by the officials themselves, who immediately notify the citizen of the need to change the document.
