There are often cases when by the age of thirty a person realizes that the chosen profession, for one reason or another, does not suit him. Many people think that it is too late to start a new career, although in fact it is not so difficult to change the field of activity at the age of 30.
Instructions
Step 1
The reasons for changing a career direction can be very different: disappointment in the profession, lack of sane prospects, low earnings, fatigue, or just curiosity and a thirst for new sensations. In any case, you need to change your profession only after you weigh all the pros and cons and prepare an "alternate airfield".
Step 2
As a rule, by this age people have already reached certain heights in their chosen profession, have work experience, recommendations, and an attractive resume. Unfortunately, very few people in their thirties can call themselves completely free of any obligations. A family, apartment renovations, a mortgage or a loan for a new car - all this requires constant financial injections, so it is most likely that you will not be able to simply write a letter of resignation and go on a free search.
Step 3
If you seriously decide to change the field of activity, you need to ensure yourself a financial reserve for the first time. Calculate your spending for the last month and multiply that amount by six. You will need to set aside a supply of money for about six months of your usual life. If you expect to save, then this is not a reason to reduce the amount of savings - it’s better to last for a longer period.
Step 4
Having secured the rear, you can start looking for a new job. If you want to devote yourself to something completely new, be prepared for the fact that it will require additional knowledge. Keep in mind that learning at thirty is much more difficult than in youth, so you need to be completely confident in your abilities. Try to start studying your future profession even before you leave - this can be done in evening courses, enrolling in a correspondence department at a university, or by finding a course of study on the Internet.
Step 5
Starting from scratch at the age of 30 is psychologically difficult, because next to you at the new job people will be working much younger than you. It is very likely that you will have to obey someone who is several years younger, and this can cause additional stress. Don't worry too much that your boss is younger than you, take this as an additional incentive to accelerate your career advancement.
Step 6
If you do not fully understand all the nuances of your future work, you can sacrifice your vacation by spending it on getting to know a new field of activity. It is quite possible to negotiate an unpaid internship with a prospective employer, and as a result, you will gain new experience without losing your current position.
Step 7
When leaving, try to maintain good relations with your former boss. It is possible that you will not like your new job, so you should not burn all the bridges, depriving yourself of the opportunity to return to your previous career path. Even if you don't succeed in your previous position, you will at least be able to count on good references.
